Glencoe Winter Elopement, Part 2 - A Magical Scottish Highland Forest and the Swan Wedding Gown

When Melody and Steve chose to elope, they left the beaches of Hawaii for the rugged beauty of Glencoe, Scotland. Their day began in a quiet valley beneath snow-covered peaks, where Highland cows grazed and the winter air felt like a page from a fairytale.

They exchanged vows in a forest carpeted with moss, the trees standing like ancient witnesses. The scene was hushed, timeless — the perfect setting for a love story carried halfway across the world.

Melody chose to rent the Swan wedding gown — a fit-and-flare silhouette with a delicate sweetheart neckline and deep plunge, held by braided spaghetti straps and a modern lace bodice. Layers of silk chiffon in blush, cream, and dusty lavender flow with soft ruching and panels that cascade from lace into the skirt. In Glencoe’s Highlands, the gown echoed the soft tones of the landscape, its textures and colors blending naturally with the moss, pines, and winter air.

Their ceremony included ancient Scottish rituals:

  • Hand-fasting, the symbolic binding of two lives.

  • Drinking from the quaich, a cup of love and friendship.

  • Jumping the broom, stepping into a new beginning together.

Each tradition layered the day with meaning, weaving their personal story into the history of the land.

The Swan gown is one of my most ethereal, whimsical designs — made to flow with landscape and light. In Glencoe, it became part of the forest, moving gently with Melody as she spoke her vows.

This is part two and sharing their elopement photos below. If you would like to see part one of their blog with the elopement video as well please click here.

Wedding dress: Swan

Renting the Swan Gown:

Melody decided to rent the Swan gown for her elopement because didn’t have enough to create a new Swan gown for her. The Swan sample dress we had available for rent was exactly her size. It also gave her the chance to step into something handcrafted and truly one-of-a-kind without needing to own it forever. The gown was also easy to carry across the ocean.
